This specialist programme examines the role of religion in contemporary global politics. It is designed to meet the needs of those seeking further and advanced study in the subject, policy-makers and analysts in international relations, and national and regional institutions engaged in conflict and diversity management, inter-religious relations and community development.
This programme brings together the unique expertise of the Department of Political Science and International Studies, the Department of Theology and the Centre for the Study of Global Ethics to provide a specialist programme that examines the role of religion in contemporary global politics, a development dramatically highlighted by the attack on the World Trade Centre on 11 September 2001.
It is specially designed to meet the needs of those seeking further and advanced study in the subject, policy-makers and analysts in international relations, and national and regional institutions engaged in conflict and diversity management, inter-religious relations and community development.
Compulsory core modules:
* Religion in Contemporary Global Politics 1
* Religion in Contemporary Global Politics 2
Optional modules include:
* Conceptual Problems in Political Theory
* The History of Ideas
* Contemporary Islamic Movements
* Global Ethics
* Human Rights
Your selections must include at least 20 credits from both POLSIS and Theology. In addition, MA students will write a (maximum) 13,500-word dissertation on a relevant topic of their choosing.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testFor the MA programme you require a good Honours degree or its equivalent. For those whose first language is not English, a TOEFL or IELTS Certificate is required. Entry at Graduate Diploma level is possible for those with a reasonable first degree. Graduate Diploma students can upgrade to the MA on satisfactory examination performance.
· IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
· TOEFL IBT 93 with no less than 20 in any band
