The focus of the MSc Public Sector Risk Management is on equipping the professional risk manager to educate and inform others to manage risk in a variety of fields, such as local government, healthcare, or the non-profit sector. This course is affiliated with the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Prospects
Over the last few years, the public sector has seen strong growth in the number of risk management roles such as risk manager, risk and insurance manager, risk analyst, risk co-ordinator, and clinical risk manager. This course equips students for risk management roles in local authority risk departments and in health and social care.
All our courses have a core of strategic and operational risk, risk analysis and modelling and insurance and risk management. The Risk Management course also addresses corporate governance, business continuity and crisis management as well as global aspects of risk management.
The Public Sector MSc will look in depth at risk management in the public sector, and in health and social care in particular. Each course will also have sessions to help your personal and professional development
Subjects covered include Financial Market and Product Risk, Risk Analysis and Modelling, Contemporary Corporate Governance Issues, Managing Public Sector Risks and Managing Risk in Health and Social Care.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

For both Masters Degree and Postgraduate Diploma, candidates whose normal medium of education and work has not been English, will normally be required to present evidence of competence in English as demonstrated by a pass at IELTS level 6 (with no element less than 5.5) or TOEFL 550 (80 internet-based test).
