The programme provides you with quality training that will prepare you to develop activities in research centres, businesses and entities for which genetics is their objective or working tool: research activities, intervention in the production of goods, services or R+D activities.
Once you have finished this master'sdegree, you will be able to:
* Apply the specific knowledge of the different fields in genetics to identify problems and find solutions in a research or professional context.
* Integrate knowledge from other fields related to contamination, the environment or pharmacology to resolve genetic problems that derive from them.
* Manage the information sources available in the field of genetics.
* Design and conduct research projects and interpret the results.
* Critically assess the results of a research project and/or your own or someone else's participation.
* Communicate clearly and concisely, to specialists and non-specialists, your knowledge, your conclusions, and the ethical and social implications of genetic advances.
* Reflect and formulate opinions on ethical and social problems that have been posed or that could be posed by advances in genetics.
Skills acquired
* Coherently analysing, summarising and interpreting information related to genetics.
* Resolving problems in analysing and monitoring the biological characteristics of organisms.
* Applying the molecular mechanisms of genetic activity to analysis, theory and practice.
* Applying your knowledge of genetics to the study of biological evolution and phylogenetics.
* Familiarise yourself with the basic bioscience concepts used in the master'sdegree.
* Using the necessary computer tools for activity in genetics.
* Using knowledge necessary to complete tasks in fields of genomics and proteomics.
* Conducting processes for genetic improvement and genetic modification of organisms of different levels of biological organisation.
* Integrating knowledge of other disciplines related to the environment, contamination, toxicology and pharmacology to resolve mutagenesis and carcinogenesis problems.
* Conducting paternity diagnosis, whether for family or forensic purposes, and for determining pedigrees of breeds that are of interest to pastoral farming.
* Detecting and diagnosing genetic diseases and monitoring them in families.
* Providing consultancy in genetics and orienting and interpreting data for hereditary genetic disorders.
* Applying knowledge to collaboration in assisted reproduction programmes.
* Mastering research methods in the context of bioscience.
The degree is split into two profiles: research and professional (60 ECTS credits).
The core units are also split into two profiles. These consist of the three conditional compulsory units and the six optional units.
Ideal student profile
You need previous training related to health and life sciences. Professional experience in employment is an important asset.
