The MA (Major or Minor) in French Linguistics / Literature offers a broad range of studies in which priority is given to theoretical and empirical questions on texts and discourse. This M A leads to a professional level in both basic and applied research. Students choose either French Linguistics or French Literature as their special field, the other represents their complementary field of studies. The key-areas of French Linguistics are the following (among others): Discourse Analysis Rhetorics / Argumentation Semiotics / Semiology Historical Linguistics The key-areas of French Literature are the following (among others): Lyric Poetry Classical Theatre History of Ideas in the 18th Century Epistolary Literature.
