The programme aims to provide training from an interdisciplinary perspective in one of the most active fields in humanities studies today: comparativeliterature and studies on contemporary culture in general based mainly on a perspective of text and discourse.
Once you have finished this master's degree, you will be able to:
* Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the main theoretical movements that have formed and are forming reflection on literature, and study Western literary tradition in greater detail.
* Understand the historical processes of the discipline from the changes of paradigm.
* Identify the different perspectives of literature and how literature is related to other cultural disciplines and practices.
* Develop your own, original contribution to advanced research and/or professional application.
* Creatively confront and resolve current issues in the study of literature and culture in the modern multicultural context.
Skills acquired
* Analysing and interpreting texts and applying different theoretical and generic models.
* Working in an interdisciplinary way in different environments.
* Providing your own creative and original contributions to the comparative study of literature and culture.
* Applying cultural-analysis techniques to the different studies while respecting the ideological foundations that exist in different contexts.
* Demonstrating an ethical commitment to inequalities.
This master's degree
is oriented towards research but does not offer any specialisations, itineraries or profiles.
Compulsory
* Initiation to Research and Master Thesis 20 ECTS credits
Conditional compulsory: you must take at least two of the following four course units.
* Gender and Sexuality 10 ECTS credits
* Comparative Literature: Literary Traditions II 10 ECTS credits
* Literature and Other Arts 10 ECTS credits
* Cultural Studies 10 ECTS credits
Optional: depending on the total number of conditional compulsory units taken, the number of optional credits can be 20 or 10. You can also choose to take a maximum of one of the above course units.
* Gender and Texts: Analysis Practicals 10 ECTS credits
* Post-Colonial Literatures 10 ECTS credits

The admission profile for master?s degrees requires prior training in humanities or social sciences.
Admission
Four-year degree (licenciatura), three-year degree (grado), advanced engineering/architecture degree (ingeniería/arquitectura superior) or engineering/architecture diploma (ingeniería técnica ).
Selection criteria
Priority will be given to students with previous knowledge in fields related to the master's degree, such as Literary Theory and ComparativeLiterature, modern and ancient literatures, modern language degrees (including Catalan Studies and Spanish Studies), Classics, Philosophy, Art History, Humanities, Translation, Cinema and Theatre Studies, Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, Sociology and Anthropology.
