This programme - the only one of its kind in the Netherlands - is educating you to design, conduct and evaluate top-quality, interdisciplinary research related to health sciences and healthcare.
This programme is a breeding ground for future top researchers in the health sciences, preparing you for a PhD or a professional research position. The healthcare chain stretches from prevention of illness, diagnosis and care, to cure and maintenance of good health, starting to cross national borders as well. To implement evidence-based medical and public health practices, we need to study the efficacy and cost effectiveness of interventions. The opportunities and need for research within this new healthcare dynamic are endless. Within this programme, you can choose one of three specialisations: 1. Clinical Epidemiology focusing on the incidence & prevalence of disease in large populations, and how to identify the causes of epidemics. 2. Health Technology Assessment emphasising the form, function & implementation of health technology innovations and the organisation & financing of healthcare systems. 3. Social Health Sciences being for students who want to conduct research into health promotion for individuals & groups, social issues surrounding health and quality of life, and the ethical and legal principles of healthcare studies. This a two-year full-time programme in English.
