The main objective of the master's degree is to provide you with the skills needed in the intervention and research in the area of speech and languagetherapy applied to cases caused by hearing disorders or neurological diseases or lesions. The competences you will acquire include comprehension of different exploration and evaluation tests in both types of deficiencies, ability to design the most adequate intervention methods to help patients develop their speech skills and integration into society, and the generation of knowledge through research. At the same time you will improve your abilities of decision, reflection, critical thinking and independent learning.
Skills acquired
Once you complete the master's degree you will have understood and integrated the theoretical foundations of speechtherapy and of speech neurology. You will be able to identify intervention needs in these fields while maintaining an integral perspective of the patient and their environment and, at the same time, understand and generate scientific knowledge related to hearing deficiencies and neurological disorders, as well as knowing how to communicate this knowledge to different publics in your own language and in other languages.
You will learn to recognise the limits of your professional competences within a code of ethics and reflect upon your interventions in a self-critical manner, as well as demonstrate respect towards diversity in your daily practices.

Ideal student profile
The ideal student profile is someone trained in the educational and/or health field wishing to complement their training with knowledge in speech and languagetherapy specialised in neurological or hearing deficiency aspects and focused on improving both intervention and research strategies. The research specialisation is addressed also to professionals from disciplines such as linguistics, medicine or psychology and who wish to apply their expertise toward learning more about speech and languagetherapy.
Admission
Degrees giving direct access to the master's degree:
* Three-year degree in SpeechTherapy
* EHEA degree in SpeechTherapy
If you hold one of the following official qualifications, you will be assessed to determine the additional training courses you may need to enrol in.
* Three-year and four-year degrees in Teaching, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Social Work. Four-year degree or EHEA degree in Psychology, Education Psychology, Medicine, Biology, Language Studies, Humanities and Sociology or other degrees related to the area of knowledge of the master's degree.
* You will also be accepted if you have obtained a degree in these studies from a university abroad.
Selection criteria
The selection criteria (out of a total of 10 points) are:
* Your student record (5 points)
* Experience in the field of speech and languagetherapy (1 point)
* Training in speech and languagetherapy (1 point)
* A cover letter explaining your level of motivation in achieving the objectives of the master's degree (2 points)
* Personal interview (1 point)
