Location of Maastricht University

Provides in-depth training in all aspects of tax law. Programme offers either a Dutch (2 specialisations) or English track. You may qualify for access to the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers.

The master's programme in Tax Law provides in-depth training in all aspects of tax law. It builds a solid foundation from which you can analyse a range of economic, legal and other societal phenomena. The programme has three specialisations, Direct Taxation, Indirect Taxation, and International and European Tax Law, and, depending on your previous education, can give you access to the Nederlandse Orde van Belastingadviseurs (Dutch Association of Tax Advisers). This is a one-year programme taught in Dutch (the specialisations Direct Taxes and Indirect Taxes) or English (International and European Tax Law).

  • Studying abroad is optional.

This programme has a workload of 60 ECTS.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Entry test: Students with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics or law may qualify for an exemption of the admission exam, depending on the inclusion of sufficient tax law courses in their bachelor's. We advise all students to have taken a course in substantive tax law in their home countries.
