The MA in German & Comparative Literature is new a one-year (full-time) or two-year (part-time) taught Masters degree designed for students who wish to study German literature within a broader international context.
Students on the programme take modules totalling 180 credits. These include two core modules worth 20 credits each on the practice and theory of Comparative Literature, taught successively in the first and second semesters. A supervised 10,000-word dissertation worth 60 credits on a comparative topic combining German and European literature is normally completed in the summer (a 4,000 word critical survey is prepared in advance of the dissertation, usually in term 2; the survey will count for 10%, the dissertation for 90% of the final dissertation mark). In addition, students choose optional modules totalling 80 credits, taught over two semesters.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testA 2.1 BA honours degree or equivalent in German (in exceptional cases a very high proficiency of German reading knowledge may be acceptable).
