The ongoing miniaturization in the microelectronics industry leads to systems that are now being referred to as nanoelectronic systems. Such systems offer a variety of applications, but their design and implementation is becoming increasingly complex. This is the motivation for the new masters program "Nanoelectronic Systems". This program focuses on three key areas:
* Technologies for nanoelectronic systems.
* Design of nanoelectronic systems.
* Applications of nanoelectronic systems.
The correlation/overlap between these areas will also be covered. The program not only focuses on traditional scaling ("More Moore"), but also ideas and concepts for "More than Moore" and "Beyond Moore".
The practical training (offered in parallel with theoretical concepts) develops skillsets and expertise that can be used during internships, project work, and the master's thesis which can be undertaken at companies or research institutes.
After a successful completion of the masters program, you are prepared to commence research at a university or at the R&D department of a company developing state-of-the-art technology.
The master's program takes four semesters. The first three semesters of the master's program are reserved for courses. In the fourth semester the students create their master's thesis and defend them.
The course program consists of eight compulsory modules, including the module "project work" in the third semester for an internship. The topics of the compulsory modules are from the three key areas of the master's program. The module “Lab sessions” includes a programming and introduction lab, and a semiconductor technology lab.
Additional to the compulsory modules the students must choose elective modules with a minimum of 38 credits to complete on the study. The list of elective modules includes again module of all three key areas of the study program and non-technical modules
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Physics, or similar with the following prerequisites:
* Advanced mathematics (multi-variable differential and integral calculus, probability and statistics).
* Analog and digital circuit design.
* Electro-magnetic fields
* Systems theory (Fourier, Laplace, and Z transformations).
* Operation and construction of basic electron devices (e. g. diode, bipolar, and MOS transistors).
* Object-oriented programming (e. g. C++, JAVA).
One of the above prerequisites may be missing, but must be undertaken independently if accepted into the program.
