The EMMEP (Erasmus Mundus Minerals and Environmental Programme) is a 2 year M.Sc. program for students in Mining / Geotechnical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Recycling and related academic studies. There are three different specialisations; accommodating groups with 15 to 20 students each.
Joining the EMMEP program is an excellent opportunity to study abroad with a group of international students.
The EMMEP MSc course is taught at six European universities:
For the European Mining Course (EMC) specialization this includes:
For the European Mineral Engineering Course (EMEC) specialization thisincludes:
For the European Geotechnical and Environmental Course (EGEC) specialization this includes:
The EMMEP master’s course offers three different specializations:
European Mining Course (EMC)Emphasis on mining, mineral economics and rock construction
European Mineral Engineering Course (EMEC)Emphasis on mineral processing, extractive metallurgy and recycling
European Geotechnical and Environmental Course (EGEC)Emphasis on geotechnical and environment aspects of mining and tunneling
Upon completion of EMMEP, the student has acquired an excellent in-depth knowledge and understanding of the various processes involved in exploration, exploitation, extraction and recycling of Mineral Resources in an environmentally responsible way.
Employment opportunities are excellent in comparison to other fields of engineering. The strong links with industry is one of the most important factors in the success of the programme. The 35 industrial supporters offer internship and job opportunities to students of the programme. These are not only companies directly from the Minerals sector, but also those with indirect links (Shell, IHC, Caterpillar and others) realised the importance of the programme and employ graduates.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

NVAO independently assesses the quality of higher education in Flanders and the Netherlands. All of TU Delft’s educational programmes are accredited by NVAO and therefore meet the European quality standards. Alongside the national accreditation system, many of TU Delft’s education programmes are recognized as substantially equivalent to the best programmes in the USA by the American Board of Engineering & Technology (ABET).
The European Commission provides a limited number of scholarships for "third-country" graduates. Nationals and residents of EU Member States, EEA-EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and candidate countries (Croatia, Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia and Turkey) are not eligible for these grants. Eligible students need to have a degree from an institute of higher education and should not have engaged in their main activity (studies, work etc.) for more than 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or other participating countries mentioned above.
For European students, a scholarship can be awarded to masters students who come from a country other than the country of one of the participating universities of that track and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these countries.
All applicants are ranked according to their credentials and the top students are offered this scholarship. The number of scholarships varies per year, but is usually around 20.
For third-country (outside European Economic Area) students:
The scholarships amount to 24,000 Euro for each of the two years of the programme. A fee of 10 000 EURO per year will be charged to cover the tuition fee and general administrative costs associated with the EMMEP programme. The remaining 14,000 Euros is available to the student to cover most of the cost of living and travelling.
For European (within European Economic Area) students:
