* MLitt: 12 months full-time; 24 months part-time

You take six taught courses: in each of the two semesters you take the philosophy research methods course and one course in each of your two optional subject areas. You also write a dissertation on a specialised topic, supported by a supervisor over the summer.

Subject areas on offer every year will be

* Ethics
* Political philosophy
* Philosophy of mind
* Metaphysics
* Philosophy of language

Students taking the Ethics or Politics option can choose from our standard course in the second semester or opt to take a special course in Ethics and Politics in the Classical Chinese Text Zhuangzi.

Subject areas that may be on offer, subject to demand, include, but may not be limited to

* Epistemology
* Formal logic
* Philosophical logic
* Philosophy of mathematics
* Aesthetics
* Philosophy of religion
* History of philosophy (including Greek philosophy, the Scottish Enlightenment, Ancient Confucian philosophy and post-Kantian philosophy).

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

Entry requirements for postgraduate taught programmes are a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification (for example, GPA 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject unless otherwise specified.

If your first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level
