Modern plant science offers new ways to address questions of fundamental biological importance that will have a far-reaching impact on agriculture and food production in the decades to come. Interests within the Plant Science Group reflect this spectrum of endeavour, ranging from fundamental research on plant nutrition, metabolism, signaling and gene regulation to applied work on plant protection and responses to the environment. The Group continues to be at the forefront of scientific knowledge and actively contributes to developments in improved food production which will be required to meet the increasing demands of a growing world population, consumer expectations and global environmental change.
