This programme provides an introduction to the Akkadian and Sumerian languages, and to the cuneiform script. An introduction to some of the less well-known languages of the Ancient Near East may also be provided, and seminar work on the history and archaeology of the Ancient Near East is available as an option.

The programme is carefully structured and sufficiently intense to equip you with the knowledge and capability to undertake research on cuneiform texts. In some cases it may be possible to combine the classroom element with fieldwork in the Near East and/or experience of work in a museum with significant Near Eastern holdings. Hands-on experience with cuneiform tablets forms an important part of the programme.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take test* IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
