This degree offers the chance to explore key aspects of East Mediterranean history in the 19th and 20th centuries, with a focus on the study of primary evidence. Special emphasis is put on the causes and consequences of Great Power intervention in the region. Taught elements provide the context and skills needed to conduct independent research into a region which includes the Balkans and the Middle East.
The primary component of this course is the 20,000-word research dissertation, allowing you to develop a significant independent research project. You should discuss your proposed dissertation with a potential supervisor in advance of applying explore the full range of academic research interests of individual staff.
As part of this programme you will also take selected taught modules and a language module, where required.
