The design focus is delivered in two core double modules in Fashion Design which enables students to engage in rigorous, in-depth, practice-based fashion research and development in an area of their choice, either individually or in collaboration with other students or with industry where appropriate.

Each pathway is further supported by three modules designed to build knowledge, understanding and capability in either 'entrepeneurship' or 'promotion'. There is also an option module which allows students to modify the programme to accommodate their particular expectations and ambitions. Finally, in order to achieve the award of Master's, students are required to successfully complete a large-scale negotiated project.

At the end of the programme, all students will be able to demonstrate advanced skills in fashion design, pattern cutting and garment construction processes. They will have a critical understanding of the structure of the fashion and textiles industry and have an awareness of current issues relating to the practice of fashion design, production and marketing.

At the end of the Entrepeneurship pathway, students will have a critical understanding of the principal theories of entrepeneurshipm the business planning process and understand the role of the support networks for new businesses.

At the end of the Promotion pathway, students will have a critical understanding of the various specialised principles within the field of media and public relations and be able to develop original and creative fashion communication strategies and media relations campaigns.

Graduates may enter a range of fashion design or related positions within the fashion industry. They may also develop careers in styling, buying, merchandising or PR or develop own business ventures.

Postgraduate project.
The modules are designed as self-contained units, thereby enabling flexible entry for students choosing to study on a part-time or partial programme basis. There are three exit points: Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and Master's.

Assessment: The programme utilises a range of assessment activities including creative practice projects, presentations, examinations, personal and organisational reflections, written commentaries, and essays or reports.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

A portfolio of work will be required (which may be submitted electronically) along with a project proposal outlining personal objectives.

The typical entry requirement is a practice-based, fashion design degree (equivalent to a UK Bachelor's degree) to include fashion or textile design or other design disciplines.

Applicants with different/lesser qualifications may apply with relevant work experience. Applicants may be considered from other design disciplines. Non-standard entrants will also be considered.
