Offering a wide choice of modules which cover a range of issues relating to construction economics, it provides students with the necessary skills to manage costs and value of construction projects and financial control in the modern industry. Students who successfully complete the degree will be able to work in a studied, systematic fashion, and be able to make sound judgements based on a broad range of both practical and theoretical understanding.

This course offers recent graduates and experience professionals the opportunity to enhance their skills and improve their career choices. All modules are delivered by means of web-based learning. To give students a deeper understanding of the subject, core subjects include: Construction Economics; Development and Project Economics; Contract Administration; Research Methods; Construction Project Finance; Construction Markets and Procurement; Dissertation.


Contents

Full-time: One year.
Part-time: Two years.
Distance Learning: Two to four years.

Trimester 1: Core: Construction Economics; Development and Project Economics; Research Methods.
Electives: The Management of Health and Safety in Construction; Construction Dispute Resolution; Value Management; Construction Organisations and Project Practices; International Construction Dispute Resolution.

Trimester 2: Core: Construction Financial Management; Construction Markets and Procurement; Contract Administration.
Electives: Project Management; Strategic Management in Construction and Property; Managing the Construction Process; Project and Development Risk; International Construction Project Finance.

MSc: In addition to requirements for the PgD, students must also submit a dissertation.

Assessment: Each module will be assessed individually by a combination of coursework and formal examination.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

The programme is designed to accept Honours degree graduates (2:2 or above) or equivalent from a wide range of disciplines. Applicants with appropriate professional experience may be considered on individual merit.

Language Proficiency

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): Grade C (Score: 60)

Accreditation

The programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
