This Master's degree comprises an accelerated, intensive programme that can be undertake in a year, as a part-time, two-year course via the distance learning route. Students can progress from first degrees in subjects ranging from maths to history of art.

Our postgraduate programme concentrates on students' acquisition of surveying and related skills using authentic tasks as far as possible, all set within the appropriate theoretical framework.

This approach is applied to a range of Core and Elective Modules and a Professional Project which must be passed for the award of a Master's in Real Estate Management.

This programme has been developed in conjunction with companies in all branches of the property management and development industries. This allows us to ensure that graduates obtain precisely the skills and knowledge that employers want, leading to excellent career prospects at the end of the programme.

On completion of this course, graduates can expect to gain employment in the areas of Property Management adn Development within the RICS faculties of Valuation, Commercial Property, Residential Property, Planning and Development.

The programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and is intended to be accessible to applicants from a wide range of backgrounds.


Contents

Full-time: One year.
Part-time: Two years (one day per week).
Distance Learning: Two to five years.

Trimester 1: Core: Property Asset Management (double module); Development and Project Economics; Environmental Planning and Impact Assessment.
Trimester 2: Core: Property Valuation (double module).

Plus a selection of electives: International Construction Project Finance; International Real Estate Markets; Real Estate Development; Urban Regeneration; Housing Policy and Provision.

Plus core module: Professional Project (8000 word problem-solving research paper)

London visit: All students on the course are encourage to attend the annual study visit to London. The visit costs approximately £300 and students should ensure that they are able to meet the financial costs of this trip. An assignment will be set based on an element of the visit. An alternative assignment will be set for any students unable to attend the visit.
