The programme is designed to be as flexible as possible, with candidates able to select from available modules, and follow a preferred pathway. For example, some candidates initially undertake 'professional development' modules ('Ethical Decision-Making in Social Work' and 'Reflection and Evaluation in Social Work') before then undertaking modules such as those in 'Partnership Working' or 'Leadership in Practice Learning'. Candidates may choose to undertake 'Partnership Working' or 'Leadership in Practice' only, or may use these awards towards further study. Candidates may exit at postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma level, or may proceed to Master's (providing 'Evaluating Evidene to Develop Research and Inform Practice' has been completed). At least 50% of modules must be social work specific for a social work award to be obtained.
The teaching block periods will normally be as follows:
- September/October
- One of the middle weeks in January
- One of the middle weeks in March
Full-time: between one and two years.
