The programme is aligned with the objectives of the European SET plan and the objectives of KIC InnoEnergy in the field of the renewable energies. The programme is presently a cooperation between the Technical University of Catalonia at Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and the following Partner institutions: Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa (IST), Royal Institute of Technology at Stockholm (KTH), École Polytechnique (Paris Tech), Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), ESADE Business School
The content of the programme is focused to the renewable technologies where the partners of KIC InnoEnergy are excellent:
The methodology of the programme is aligned with the concept of “learning by doing” of KIC InnoEnergy, so combining deep theory knowledge (top-down approach) with internship in industry co-advisored by the university and the industry (bottom-up approach).
From the transversal point of view and the enhancement of competences, the objective is to train the students in skills such as communication, economics, business administration and, very specially, to promote the orientation to innovation and the entrepreneurship spirit by means again, of the “learning by doing” concept. The practical implementation of such concepts will be done developing applied technical valorisation and business plans.
Mobility is part of the KIC InnoEnergy educational and innovation strategy. Subsequently, the students will be the first year in one of the Universities of the partnership and the second year in another one.
Block 1: Engineering courses (35 ECTS)
This block is built up with courses in the engineering fields relevant to energy technology to match the different backgrounds of the students. The courses are in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Thermodynamics, Industrial Engineering. The students will take different courses, in order to assure a minimum amount of credits per field as follows:
This block is distributed along the first and second semester.
Block 2: Transversal courses (20 ECTS)
The transversal courses include training in entrepreneurship, oral communication, team working, etc.
The training credits in entrepreneurship will not be concentrated in a single course, but distributed along time in different training activities, starting in the first year and finishing with a business plan proposal in the thesis.
Block 3: courses on renewable energy engineering and specialization (35 ECTS)
This block is defined by mandatory courses (20 ECTS) covering the background concepts in renewable engineering and a specialization (15 ECTS).
The four fields of specialization are:
Block 4: thesis (30 ECTS)
The thesis will be aligned with the Research & Technology projects in KIC InnoEnergy co-advisored by a professor of the hosting university and a researcher of the industry and/or a research centre.
Internships will be remunerated.
