The Department of Theology and Religion has a large and international community of over 300 postgraduates, attracted by the range and quality of supervision available and the chance to participate in specialised seminars in many areas of theological research.

The programme is structured so that it is suitable for both students wanting to deepen their academic understanding and progress towards research and for those wanting to pursue the subject to enhance their professional skills.

This programme is designed both for those who wish to acquire a broad foundation in Islamic studies at a postgraduate level and those seeking a sound preparation for a subsequent research degree. A wide selection of modules includes the core Islamic subjects, Christian-Muslim Relations, Research Methods, and the opportunity to work on areas of special interest.

This programme is designed both for those who wish to acquire a broad foundation in Islamic studies at a postgraduate level and those seeking a sound preparation for a subsequent research degree.

A wide selection of modules includes the core Islamic subjects such as Sciences of the Qur'an; Classical Islamic Religious Thought; Modern Islamic Religious Thought; Islamic Philosophy; Sufism; Islamic Jurisprudence; and Islam and Gender, as well as Christian–Muslim Relations, Research Methods, and the opportunity to work on areas of special interest.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

An upper second-class Honours degree in Theology or a related discipline is the normal entrance requirement for the MA, whilst Diploma applicants should normally be graduates with a degree in an appropriate discipline.

* IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
* TOEFL 580 Paper- based test / 237 Computer-based test.
