The Graduate Institute for Theology and Religion is part of the Department and combines internationally established strength in teaching and research with initiatives in new fields of study. It provides a context that supports and encourages multidisciplinary research and postgraduate study across the areas of theology and the study of religion.
With over 30 academic staff, it is able to offer both variety and depth of study. The Institute offers postgraduate degree programmes from taught Masters to PhD degrees in a wide range of subjects, and hosts public lectures and research seminars given by distinguished scholars.
This programme has been established to give students a broad overview of Quaker history, theology and practice, and to encourage them to see these aspects of Quakerism in a wider social, historical and theological context. It provides a solid grounding in core Quaker studies, which can act as a basis for future research or work within the Quaker setting.

Programme content
The programme aims to develop your critical reasoning and theological reflection with regard to Quaker texts, texts about Quakerism and other religious texts.
Modules studied include:
* The Origins of Quakerism
* The History of Quaker Theology
* The History and Practice of Spiritual Autobiography/Biography
* Issues in Contemporary Quakerism
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Take testAn upper second-class Honours degree in Theology or a related discipline is the normal entrance requirement for the MA, whilst Diploma applicants should normally be graduates with a degree in an appropriate discipline.
