The School of Medical Sciences Education Development in the Faculty of Medical Sciences works collaboratively with other institutes and schools in the University to offer research degree opportunities in the field of education related to the health care sector.
Studies undertaken by previous research students have included: patterns of change in professional roles and responsibilities; interprofessional learning and working; development of a learning culture; stakeholder perspectives on health care education; workforce change in health and social care; and education about patient safety.
Current research interests and activity include: development of professional knowledge within the work-place; the role of the patient in medical education; evaluation of educational interventions including the use of learning technologies; feedback for teachers and learners; and doctor-patient communication.
Contents
Our Medical Sciences Graduate School has a thriving postgraduate research culture, with additional support for international students. We have an excellent record for timely PhD submission, provide training in professional/key skills and research techniques and support personal development.
