MPhil supervision is normally available in the following areas: linguistic and communication theory; multi-competence; processability; the interactional architecture of the L2 classroom; and second language acquisition.
Our Humanities and Social Sciences Graduate School provides training in professional/key skills and research techniques, and hosts postgraduate events. We also encourage you to attend and to present papers you have written at our regular postgraduate seminars. International literary and linguistic scholars contribute to our visiting speakers programmes.

Take testNormally a minimum of an upper-second-class (2.1) Honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject, for example, linguistics, psychology, speech and language therapy, education, sociology. Applicants whose first language is not English require a minimum of IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based) or 577 (paper-based), or equivalent.
