You take three compulsory modules (50 credits in total) that equip you with a good understanding of the conventional finance industry. These modules are: financial theory and corporate policy; introduction to law, regulation and legal methods and regulatory techniques; and research methods in economics and finance. You then take two compulsory modules (20 credits) that focus on the main principles and practices of Islamic finance.
For your optional modules (50 credits), you choose from a broad range of finance modules, typically: money, space and power; international money and banking; behavioural finance; credit risk modelling; retail and investment banking; central banking; legal and regulatory aspects of banking supervision; legal and regulatory aspects of money laundering and financial crime.
The topic for your dissertation (60 credits) is normally based on an interest you have developed during the course and may have an Islamic finance or a conventional finance focus.
