The 120-credit Diploma in Town Planning (RTPI accredited) completes the second part of our route to a professionally accredited planning qualification (following the BA Honours in Town Planning and Certificate in Planning Practice). After completing the Certificate in Planning Practice, you will review issues relating to both practice and theory.
The Diploma can be taken via one of three routes: planning and urban design; planning and regeneration; environmental planning. You will have the opportunity to work with outside planning and planning related organisations on live reports, often taken up subsequently in policy; and attend practitioner workshop sessions. You will also be able to gain more specialist knowledge and skills, enhancing your CV, and have the opportunity to work with other disciplines (law, architecture, urban design, landscape students and staff) and to visit abroad.
You can participate in an Erasmus exchange in the second semester of the Diploma, as part of a European research project. Students who complete the Diploma programme may be eligible to convert their Diploma to the 180-credit Master's in Town Planning. To satisfy the requirements for this programme, you will be required to undertake and submit a dissertation (60 credits) within a year.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
