Studies in Computer Science are concerned not only with the efficient calculation of functions, but also with the object of the calculations, why the calculation is necessary, the arising benefits and costs, how to properly implement the use of computers, and how we are influenced by all this. It is concerned with the models and formalisations which lie at the foundation of calculations. And it is concerned with the use and the interaction with the computer.

The Master programme prepares students academically for future careers in the fields of the development and application of IT systems and provides the basis for scientific research work.

Graduates find job opportunities in industry, the economy, public service, as employees of the manufacturers of computer hardware and software, with users, and in research and teaching.

Contents

Computer scientists develop and investigate operation systems, programme languages, user surfaces, text, graphic and multi-media applications, process controls, neuronal networks, sysmbol recognition systems, information systems, data bases and much more.

Studies deal with the theoretical, practical and technical foundations of computer science, with its application in finding solutions to concrete problems and issues, as well as with the societal correlations surrounding these development and application processes. Students are taught a scientific approach to dealing with issues from the named subsections and how to relate the results.
