In the Centre for European Languages and Cultures (CELC), you can choose to pursue specialist, cross-disciplinary or interdisciplinary postgraduate study in French, German, Italian and Hispanic Studies (Portuguese and Spanish).
You can research a wide range of cultural, literary, historical, and socio-political topics related to periods from the Middle Ages to the present day. You can also draw upon disciplinary and interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes organised within the School of Humanities.
The MPhil(B) in Modern European Cultures is a research postgraduate degree with taught elements.
The programme aims to provide you with a detailed knowledge of approaches to the study of modern European cultures, to familiarise you with research methods applied to this area of intellectual inquiry, and to allow you to make critical use of these research methods.
You will study these modules:
* Research Skills and Training
* Ideas of Europe
* Nations and their Neighbours
* Three optional modules, which can be taken from other masters level programmes in the College. In the past, students have taken, for example, Cultural Inquiry, or Gender Studies modules
You will also complete a 15,000 word dissertation.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take test* IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
* TOEFL 580 Paper- based test / 237 Computer-based test.
