This Masters programme is suitable either as an additional year of study after an undergraduate degree, or as a stepping stone to postgraduate research (PhD). There are three pathways through the MA: Composition, Musicology and Performance Practice. The programme may be taken part-time over a two-year period.

The MA introduces students to the advanced study of music in an atmosphere of critical analysis, creative thinking, and debate. As well as technical, discipline-specific skills, the MA helps students acquire general, transferable skills such as communication, presentation, critical evaluation, advanced argumentation and independent study skills.
