The provision of anywhere, anytime communications is radically changing the modern world. The enabling technology is mobile communications and this programme is designed to provide an in depth appreciation of the basic principles and techniques required to design and develop the next generation of mobile communication systems.

Assessment
Examinations in January and May, with coursework throughout the programme. Project assessed by written report and viva voce in September.

Upper second class honours degree in electronic/ electrical engineering, physics or an equivalent qualification or equivalent industrial experience. Applicants with a good lower second class honours degree will also be considered. Candidates holding CEI Part II admitted.
All applicants must have an acceptable qualification in English language before they can be admitted to any postgraduate programme. Below are the main English language qualifications acceptable for entry to the University (these are the minimum and some departments may require higher levels):

* IELTS band 6.5 or above with not less than 6.0 in each sub test
* TOEFL (including the Tests in Written and Spoken Practice) minimum score of 100 (Internet-based test) with specific requirements for sub tests
