The Master course on Media Management is the extension of the Bachelor course on Media Management. As for the Bachelor course, the Master course is conceived as a hybrid of media and communication science and economics.
Education built around practical examples again forms a focus of the work and is rounded off with “research laboratories” with projects in the area of applied research. The focus on internationalization is provided by advanced English, lectures from international guest scientists and the possibility for spending a semester abroad. Elective modules offer the students the chance to deepen their knowledge of selective subjects.
In the first semester the course is composed of modules. Thus, graduates of other courses of higher education (e.g. with a Bachelor in journalism or economics) are able to take the course.
Overview of the course
Graduation: Master of Arts in Business (MA)
Length of course: 4 semesters
Location: St Pölten UAS
Language: German
Start of course: September 2011
Tuition fees/sem.: EUR 363.36 + ÖH contribution

In the first semester the course is made up of modules, giving students the opportunity to gather knowledge in subjects that they had not covered in sufficient detail in their previous Bachelor courses – media, communications, economics. The choice of appropriate modules and the possibility to add individual lecture series from other modules ensures that students are able to extend and enlarge on their individual knowledge.
The in-depth studies (in the second and third semesters) enable students to specialize. In addition to compulsory modules on scientific theory and empirical methods, students may choose from four elective modules for in-depth study:
* Marketing
* Content management &media production
* Corporate finance and controlling
* Strategic management
In the third and fourth semesters students are offered a study of applied research, thanks to the combination of their work in research and the preparation of the Master’s thesis laboratories. Students are involved in research projects. A well equipped usability and consultancy lab can be used individually for the students’ own work.
