Our 12-month Executive MBA in Hospitality Administration is for career switchers wishing to move to hospitality or for career climbers seeking new responsibilities or a change of direction within the hospitality industry.

The hospitality master uses your expertise in a new context and allows you to develop a unique mix of competencies.

The Executive MBA in Hospitality Administration programme is based on EHL’s philosophy of bringing together the arts and sciences of hospitality. It provides sound financial management knowledge and tools, and ensures that graduates have all the analytical and decision-making skills similiar to any graduate from a top-tier business school.

At the same time it also integrates a unique intuitive approach that is an essential part of hospitality management. So, unlike students from more conventional business schools, EHL's MBA students study the vital role played by creativity and design, art, tradition and ambience in creating and sustaining a successful hospitality venture.

Contents

EHL's Executive MBA in Hospitality Administration programme starts in July every year over a period of 12 months, consisting of two semesters and with two modules per semester. The Professional Development Stream (PDS) runs throughout the programme and is closely integrated with all the other courses.

Term I

Module 1: The art of hospitality

This unique module provides an overall picture of the hospitality industry today, focusing on its main driving forces, key industry figures, and present challenges. Experiential learning and business analysis are closely linked through a series of hands-on workshops and team building sessions.

You will benefit from direct experience in many different hospitality enterprises, through which you will find inspiration for your own hospitality concept and creative business solutions. Throughout this voyage of discovery you will be guided by an architect and designer, an entrepreneur, and a service operations specialist.

You will also work in a team to propose and develop a concept for a unique service experience which will be evaluated in terms of market attractiveness and potential financial success.

Module 2: The science of management

This module will help you understand and analyse the financial performance of a hospitality operation: budgeting, cash flow and cost allocation. You will learn how to evaluate assets and place a quantitative value on a business idea. You will also learn how to prepare and edit financial data, which will allow you to make informed decisions and justify a project to investors.

Your toolbox will include business mapping processes, decision theory and critical path analysis, models for market research, and advanced technological tools such as web analytics. With these tools, you will be able to put your own innovative or creative concept into action.

Term II

Module 1: Strategy and corporate vision

To master hospitality management, you need an understanding of the hard reality of the corporate world, and to learn how to shape the tools you have acquired to create value both for yourself and the company you work for.

You will study the strategic integration method, which involves using both quantitative skills and imagination. You will also work on methods for crafting material persuasively for different stakeholders such as lenders, owners, employees, customers, shareholders and investors.

Module 2: Innovation and leadership

By the time you reach the last part of the programme, you will be ready to consolidate your learning in a final project. You will work with our alumni and hospitality think-tank which brings together the resources of the school and the industry.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
