The course is designed for experienced teachers working with more able, gifted and talented children and young people. It is a three module course leading to the award of Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Educational Practice: Gifted and Talented Education.

You will take two compulsory modules and one option for the third module. The compulsory modules could be replaced by completed accredited courses (for example Oxford Brookes CAPP and EiC courses for Gifted and Talented Co-ordinators) that the course tutor agrees have equivalent content. The course is at M level and so can contribute towards a master's qualification.

Individual Needs of Able, Gifted and Talented Pupils
* definitions, theoretical perspective on ability, giftedness, talent, exceptional ability
* models of talent identification and development
* gender issues in achievement
* cultural and social factors in achievement
* able/gifted children with additional special educational needs
* theoretical perspectives on underachievement
* issues in identification of able/gifted underachievers
* the significance of contextual and cultural factors in underachievement
* research paradigms
* case study research approaches.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
