This course will develop your knowledge and skills in the fields of management and construction management, and will provide the specialist knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage construction projects.
It is designed for built environment graduates and professionals who wish to enter a career in construction management, or to further an existing career in construction management. It provides a toolkit of key management skills which will equip you to undertake a variety of roles in the field of construction management, or other management roles in the construction sector.
Our strong management theme offers specialist modules in construction management techniques, with an overarching emphasis on their practical application to the management of construction projects.
This course develops a comprehensive understanding of the role of the construction manager throughout the construction process. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills to lead and manage teams and to identify, synthesise and implement innovative managerial, organisational and technological solutions to construction-related problems.
This course will:
* equip you with the broad range of management and technical skills required to manage construction projects
* develop your individual knowledge base and approach to the management of construction projects. The course recognises that every manager has their own unique approach to construction management and we encourage you to develop your own particular approach
* demonstrate the practical application of construction management techniques
* meet the increasing demand for qualified construction managers from construction firms, both nationally and internationally
* meet the requirements for professional construction managers in a wide range of construction organisations and to meet the specific requirements for professional construction managers, specified by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
* know how to plan, organise and manage the construction process
* demonstrate a critical awareness and understanding of the context, factors and issues that affect construction
* apply an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of health and safety issues and how to effectively manage these in a construction context
* select and apply appropriate management approaches and techniques to construction
* develop and implement both recognised and innovative solutions to problems in construction
* recognise the environmental implications and considerations that influence construction
* understand professional and ethical standards and know how to apply ethical values to situations and choices.
Assessment
Assessment is diverse to reflect the scope and aims of our course. Students can expect to be assessed by a combination of assignments, case studies, examinations, group work and presentations.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: A 2:2 honours degree in Construction Management or another appropriate Built Environment subject; OR Graduate Certificate in Construction Management awarded by Anglia Ruskin University; OR CIOB Graduate Diploma; OR Membership at an appropriate level of a recognised construction institution, such as RIBA, RICS,CIOB, ICE. A non-cognate honours degree (2.2 or above) together with relevant post graduate working experience will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants may be invited for interview.
