The Faculty of Fine Arts offers study programmes in music performance, drama and music education and arts and crafts. Shorter programmes may be included as core and elective modules in the University's teacher education programmes.
Fine arts studies qualify students for work in various capacities in nurseries and pre-school education, schools, culture schools, and the performing arts.
Faculty of Fine arts now offer master programme in:
* Master's Programme in Music Performance - African-American Music
* Master's Programme in Music Performance - Western Classical Music
This programme will give the students knowledge and skills to communicate through music on a high professional level. The students will also develop their professional basis for reflection and creative thinking through the work with their Master thesis.
Teaching methods
The master programme makes use of individual guidance and lectures.
Most of the time the students will practice on their main instrument and in ensembles.
Participation at and organizing different concerts is a compulsory part of the programme.
Foreign students have to write their master thesis in English. The individual guidance is also in English.
Student exchange
A study abroad programme may be included in the programme. Students may spend one semester at a university with which Faculty of Fine Arts has an agreement. Contact Student mobility adviser for further information about current exchange institutions.
Occupational profiles of graduates and access to further studies
This programme qualifies for work as a freelance musician, as a band musician, as a musician in an orchestra or instrumental teacher. The study is also basis for further doctoral studies. UiA offers doctoral education in rhythmic music.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testExam from a Bachelor programme in Music Performance.
Students also need to pass an entrance exam.
Foreign students have to prove knowledge in Norwegian and English language.
Written proposal to the subject of the master thesis have to follow the application.
