The Graduate School of Political Science and International Studies (POLSIS) offers a wide range of professionally orientated courses. You may opt for a general multidisciplinary approach or choose from a range of more specialised programmes with a more specific career orientation.
We arrange study visits to NATO and the EU in Brussels, and we have an extensive programme of visiting speakers involving British and overseas academics, diplomats and other professionals.
This programme is for students wanting a clearer understanding of both the mechanisms of the dialogue between states and the instruments of statecraft commonly employed, and for students looking for a career in diplomacy.
By taking this programme you will acquire a clear understanding of the development, rationale, methodology and practice of diplomacy. You will also learn about coercive diplomacy, argue the merits of economic sanctions and debate the limits and successes of public diplomacy.
