The degree programme in Primary School Teacher Training is run in a single programme with no division into sub-courses, promoting advanced theoretical and practical training in psychology and pedagogy, teaching methods, technology and research, fields which characterise the professional roles of preschool and primary school teachers. The curriculum also aims to develop theoretical and teaching skills in the subject areas which are taught in the considered school classes. It also offers specific training for the inclusion and integration of pupils with disabilities.

This Degree Programme aims to produce multi-purpose teachers who are able to integrate creativity, flexibility and attention to motivating knowledge that are typical of preschools with the sound subject grounding which is required also within primary schools. This therefore ensures better continuity between the two school systems, through the presence of professional staff who are competent in both fields.

The teachers trained during the single cycle degree programme will also be skilled in the inclusion of children with disabilities, in order to better integrate diversity, promote customisation and establish improved collaboration among class teachers and support teachers. Teachers must be prepared to identify and effectively tackle learning difficulties and disorders with targeted interventions based on recent psychological and educational research.

The class teacher must also be able to promote and positively integrate differences which are also brought about by the multicultural nature of the classes.
Training includes the study of both subject areas and more strictly didactic areas, focusing on effective strategies to promote and develop motivation to learning at school.

Vocational training concerns the management of both the cognitive aspects of learning and the emotional and interpersonal spheres, allowing teachers to contribute to the overall education of the children in positive settings which promote both individual and collective well-being.

The learning path covers "basic learning skills" to acquire competencies in psycho-pedagogic, methodological, teaching, socio-anthropological and digital areas.
The study programme also includes core units dedicated to the study of the contents of the teaching programmes delivered in the two school systems considered ("school knowledge") and the acquisition of English language skills.
A third area focuses on the full integration of pupils with disabilities.
Teaching is divided into courses and laboratories which offer the students the opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge, for example, by developing teaching materials and tools, developing critical thought and collaboration through group work and debate.
