Open to applicants with a degree in any discipline, this programme will equip you with the skills and management knowledge required of today's managers.
The course builds on the theory and practical application of key business functions to help you develop a sound understanding of the field of global business. It addresses strategic and operational perspectives, with an emphasis on the practical skills essential for the modern international business manager.
What will you study?
After an induction programme introducing you to the Business School and the expectations and ethos of the course, you go on to study the underpinning elements of business management from a national and international context. The business-related areas comprise information management, operations management, marketing, financial resources management, and the management of people and organisations. These areas will be covered in depth to include areas of consultancy, analysis and research skills.
The second stage of the course includes core work on strategy and research, together with a wide range of options covering international business areas and a practical consultancy project. This gives you the opportunity to work for an external client organisation for five to six weeks, putting your business knowledge and skills into practice with a real company. In addition, your dissertation enables you to research a specific area of interest in depth.
Pathways
The programme allows for combination with one of the below minor fields. These minor fields are only available on the September start date.
- with Entrepreneurship –this pathway will teach you a wide range of skills including developing new products and ideas, business processes to start a new venture and evaluating a new business.
- with Finance – this pathway takes the student from first principles of finance and financial management to more complex finance theories and applications. Students will appraise individual projects and will evaluate the strategic financial direction and control of the organisation as a whole. The financial aspects of individual projects includes basic techniques for decision making, planning and monitoring performance of individual projects. Valuation of assets, liabilities, equity and other securities both individually and collectively are covered. The measurement and management of risk is incorporated.
- with Project Management – this pathway will teach you key skills including project planning and monitoring, strategic management, agreeing and setting realistic targets plus the ability to self-analyse performance and progress and respond to feedback.

We wish to recruit from all backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. We welcome applications from those who have:
- a good honours degree or equivalent; and
- a willingness to learn, develop and change.
You should normally have graduated in the arts, humanities, technology or science areas in the last three years. You may have limited work experience but perhaps possess specific knowledge or skills that you can bring to the course.
What else?
This is an intensive course and you will be expected to have a high degree of motivation. You'll need to have the ability to work effectively on your own and with others. Focus, maturity and commitment are qualities that we will be looking for.
Interview arrangements
Suitable candidates may be invited to attend for interview. Telephone interviews can be arranged in the case of those for whom travel to the UK may present difficulties.
International students
All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall, with special conditions in all elements. Please make sure you read our full guidance about English language requirements, which includes details of other qualifications we'll consider.
Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.
Applicants from one of the recognised Majority English Speaking Countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.

EPAS accreditation
This course is accredited by the Brussels-based European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). Its EFMD Programme Accreditation System (EPAS) award means that you can be confident that this degree is of a high standard compared to similar programmes around the world.
Kingston Business School is one of only a small number of schools that have secured accreditation from EFMD. We are the second UK Business School to secure EPAS accreditation, and one of only 22 schools with accreditation from EFMD in the UK (the other 20 having secured EQUIS accreditation).
AMBA accreditation
Kingston Business School is the first business school internationally to receive triple AMBA (Association of MBAs) accreditation across its portfolio of general management masters and doctoral courses.
This accreditation provides specific programmes with an independent and international quality kite mark that assures they are delivered to an appropriate standard and are of continuing relevance to contemporary issues in management education:

The Kingston MBA has enjoyed continuous AMBA accreditation since 1992, while Kingston's Business Management MSc was among the first courses internationally to be awarded AMBA's PEMM accreditation (Pre-Experience Masters in General Management) in September 2005. In July 2006, the Kingston DBA was one of the first three doctoral programmes internationally to receive AMBA accreditation.
Chartered Management Institute membership
Graduates of the masters degree programme will be entitled to professional membership of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI or ACMI depending on your management experience and the programme studied).
Recognition from the Institute demonstrates your professional commitment. As a member you will have access to a wide range of support services, including information resources, an online CPD system and networking events.
You will also be entitled to the Institute's fast track membership application process and a reduction on subscription rates for the first year. Once a member, you can demonstrate your capability as a professional manager still further by registering on the Institute's Chartered Manager programme.
