The programme is a specialised graduate programme designed to study labour law in its broadest sense. It is unique in its sort and a response to the great demand for specialised labour laywers.
The approach is both international (EU Law, ILO) and multi-national: the goal of the programme is to go beyond the national approach that is common to most juridical curricula. This goal is achieved by giving students the opportunity to study, compare and discuss the various national approaches to labour law that exist in the world, especially in Europe. The programme is exceptionally well suited for (future) lawyers, policy makers, employee representatives (e.g. in European Work Councils) who aspire to be or already are professionally active in the field of (international) labour law. Labour Law specialists with a broader, legal view are- and have always been- in great demand.
The programme consists of 60 ECTS credits and will cover one full academic year. This year is divided into two semesters (a summer/autumn semester and a winter/spring semester), containing two periods each.
This programme consists of compulsory courses (totalling 35 ECTS credits), optional courses of 15 ECTS credits, and a final thesis (10 ECTS credits).
All courses are 5 ECTS credits each and will be taught during a full block of 7 weeks. Exams will take place after each block.
The mentioned optional courses are offered by the Faculty of Law of the University of Amsterdam. Other optional courses can be taken after the approval of the programme director.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
