Industrial Informatics offers the very best research related courses in the area virtual manufacturing, industrial informatics and logistic.
Industrial informatics refers to the techniques and tools found in the borderland between informatics and manufacturing techniques, where manufacturing systems complexity demands informatics' tools and techniques for planning and controlling manufacturing systems.
The aims are to give you practical as well as conceptual knowledge of the latest tools and methodologies. It will provide you the basis for a successful career as an engineer and IT professional who can meet the challenges in the design and control of sophisticated manufacturing systems.
The studies extend for one year (two semesters) and correspond to 60 ECTS credits. The degree awarded is a Teknologie magisterexamen i automatiseringsteknik officially translated to: Degree of Master of Science in Automation Engineering.
The academic year is divided into four study periods. You are expected to study at least 2 courses in each period, with exception of the last study period when you will be fully occupied with your dissertation work. The courses you study/can choose among in respective study period are show below. You need to make an active choice in study period 2 and 3.
This Master’s programme in Industrial Informatics comprehends 60 ECTS and extends over a period of one year (2 semesters). The programme binds together
two important abstraction levels of a production system, a holistic level and the other at a production cell level. These different levels identify the need for integ-
ration within and between levels, but also the complex relationship that exists between these two parts. The education presents how modern industrial informatics
can be used for model, analyse and optimize industrial systems with the help of traditional tools and advance simulation and AI technique.
The following courses are included in the Master programme:
The dissertation project is often associated with an undergoing research project cooperated with industry. The master studies begins by looking at production
systems from a holistic perspective through the courses Simulation of complex production systems and Modelling and analysis of supply/demand chains.
These two courses complement each other, by dealing with relations, analyses and modelling issues related to production and logistical systems. The course AI
for manufacturing automation discuss how AI technique can be used for automated and deepen analysis of production systems with the help of simulation models. How these models are built and how traditional analysis methods works is something that the students address in the earlier courses.
At production cell level, the students studies the course Computer Aided Robotics. This course demands that the students have the basics in industrial robot technique and PLC programming. If the student lacks this previous knowledge, he/she has the opportunity to study a preparation course which starts the second half of august and is not part of the master programme. The course Integration technique for industrial automated systems deals with the matter of how different components, both hard and software components at different levels of the production system, can be connected and optimize through advanced communication and IT technology. Many of the main topics within Industrial Informatics, e.g. intelligent production systems, e-Factory, HMI and integration between production and business systems will be cover by this course.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

A Bachelor degree of at least 180 higher education credits (equivalent to 180 ECTS) within the fields of automation engineering, industrial Engineering or mechanical engineering. A further requirement is proof of skills in English equivalent of studies at upper secondary level in Sweden, known as English course B. This is normally demonstrated by means of an internationally recognized test, e g IELTS, TOEFL or the equivalent.
