This programme in Textile Management focuses on the textile value chain, from the conceptual stage and the design process to the consumer, and where product development and innovation, logistics and demand management, business abilities and customer insight are extremely important for the outcome. It will qualify you for employment in managerial and developmental roles within the textile industry and trade.

There is a vivid exchange with current research in the field, strong professional links and the capacity to stimulate students to develop their skills for different roles within the textile and fashion sector, which may include a scientific career or developing their own business. Your capacity for innovation will be encouraged and together with deep subject knowledge you will be equipped to help new businesses in the industry. The programme will provide environmental, ecological, ethical and globalization-related awareness. Building a personal network is important and is supported in the School of Textiles environment through interaction with a range of people in design, technology and management professions.


Contents

Upon graduation, you will have skills in and be prepared for employment in management or qualified research functions in all areas at a textile related company, for example product development, manufacturing, trade and logistics. You will be prepared for qualified tasks at the advanced level within the textile business world, in product development as well as in manufacturing, trade and logistics. You will have attained a comprehensive understanding of the textile value chain with a specialisation in development, innovation and leadership. Upon graduation, you will have the ability to:

* demonstrate and apply broad knowledge of textile processes, methods and applications in a management perspective, in particular in-depth knowledge of the textile value chain, with emphasis on product development, logistics and demand-driven flows, resource efficiency, sustainability and quality;
* critically and systematically gather literature and theory within the textile management area;
* analyse and find solutions to organizational issues on textiles flows, supply and distribution;
* integrate and apply knowledge in the field for research and development purposes and other skilled activities; quickly obtain new organisational skills and apply them to textile-related development and innovation by creating, analysing and critically evaluating various textile process-related solutions;
* develop and design textile processes and systems with regard to human conditions and needs and society’s objectives for economically, socially and ecologically sustainable development;
* participate in teamwork and cooperate in groups of differing composition

* Bachelor´s degree in Technology/Engineering, Business Administration, Media or Design, 180 credits, or equivalent.
* Verified knowledge of English corresponding to the course English B in the Swedish Upper Secondary School

1. English language tests
Please note: These results are applicable from 1 December, 2010

The following language tests and minimum scores are accepted by University of Borås as proof of English language proficiency:

IELTS
* IELTS (academic modules), an overall mark of 6.5 and no section below 5.5
You should send a copy of your IELTS test results to University Studies in Sweden, FE1, SE-833 83, Stroemsund, SWEDEN. They will verify your results online.

TOEFL
* TOEFL (paper based): Score of 4.5 (scale 1-6) in written test and a total score of 575
* TOEFL (Internet based): Score of 20 (scale 0-30) in written test and a total score of 90

All TOEFL tests must be sent straight from Educational Testing Service (ETS). The institution code of University Studies in Sweden is Sweden 9520. You must provide this code in order for your results to be reported to University Studies.

NB! TOEFL Examinee Score Records are not accepted.

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations
(Cambridge ESOL) If you have one of the following certificates or diploma you fulfil the English proficiency requirements

* Certificate in Advanced English
* Diploma of English Studies
* Certificate of Proficiency

2. English proficiency from upper secondary/high school
If you have an upper secondary school exam/high school degree from any of the following countries, you might fulfil the English proficiency requirements:

Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Cameroon, Denmark, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Malaysia, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zeeland, Nigeria, Norway, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Switzerland, Tanzania, Uganda, USA, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

3. English proficiency from previous university studies
Students with a Bachelor's degree from a internationally recognised university where English is the only language of instruction, in accordance with the recommendations in the latest edition of WHED´s International Handbook of Universities.

Students with a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen) where English is the main subject.

Students with a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen) in Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Science or Technology from India or Pakistan.

Students with 30 higher education (HE) credits from a Nordic country where the language of instruction of the course is English.

Students with a formal transcript or degree certificate where it is clearly stated that the language of instruction was English. Other documentation regarding language of instruction will not be accepted.
