Do you want to dig deeper into issues concerning the relationship between brain functions, our behaviour, our well-being and our subjective experience? This master’s programme allows you to study these issues thoroughly.
The program aims to lead to a thorough knowledge of the theoretical principles and the main empirical methods and findings of the three related fields: cognitive neuroscience, consciousness studies and the scientific study of subjective well-being. The first of these fields provides students with the present leading scientific understanding of the relationship between consciousness and brain. The second focuses on the nature of the subjective experience and self-awareness and provides the current leading scientific understanding of our subjective mental life. The third focuses on the quality of our subjective mental life or subjective well-being.
The programme includes a number of applied components, however the majority are theoretically based. All courses in the first year include components where the students are able to further develop and deepen their ability for independent critical thinking and reflection.
Scientific methods and communication (verbal and written) are included in all courses in the programme.
The second term consists of a dissertation, for which the students will independently identify and address a research and development theme within cognitive science.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
