The main aim of the specialization Theoretical Physics is to provide comprehensive knowledge about theoretical physics and to prepare the student to carry out further study or research in this field. Additionally, students taught in English will gain knowledge of English physics terminology and skills in using this language. The practical use of English will be particularly pronounced during classes and seminars. Preparation and defense of the master’s thesis in English will be a practical verification of the acquired language skills. Students of the specialization Theoretical Physics will graduate with a Master's degree in physics. They will have a broad and comprehensive knowledge of theoretical physics, proficiency in using highly sophisticated mathematical and computer methods, including numerical simulations. The students will be able to prepare a master's thesis on classical subjects, like condensed matter theory, field theory, particle physics, astrophysics or in more contemporary areas like nanophysics and quantum information. Another advantage of graduates will be their advanced knowledge of English, which will facilitate reading specialist literature, writing scientific articles and preparing conference talks. It will increase student's chances to continue study at foreign universities or to have a career in areas not connected to physics.
