Location of Cardiff University

The Certificate programme offers skills-based training days to introduce participants to the fundamentals of CBT and provide training on CBT with specific disorders. The Diploma programme further develops participants skills via 14 specialist supervision sessions. Assessment for the Diploma programme includes an assessed therapy tape. The syllabus for both programmes is based on the Roth & Pilling competency framework for CBT with anxiety disorders and depression. The programmes focus on CBT with adults although we also welcome practitioners working with other groups.

Course Structure and Start Dates

Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies: contains of 14 training days and has its first intake in March 2012.

Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies: contains of 14 specialist supervision sessions and has its first intake in January 2013.

Modules for the Certificate programme:

* PST401 Fundamentals of CBT
* PST402 CBT for specific disorders

Additional modules for the diploma programme:

* PST403 CBT clinical skills
* PST404 CBT Metacompetences

Special Features
Both programmes have been written in consultation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. During the first year of the programmes they will be submitted for BABCP accreditation at Level 1. The programmes are designed to help people towards individual practitioner accreditation with BABCP.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Applicants must be graduates and possess a professional qualification in a health or social care field where they had the opportunity to engage in clinical practice.

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to pass either IELTS/TOEFL exams, obtaining a minimum score of IELTS band 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each category or 570 in TOEFL (230 for computer-based marking).
