Networks and computer science are, more than ever, intimately linked disciplines:
applications and services are often distributed and involve audio, video and data communication; users have become mobile and require seamless service operations. The information technology field therefore requires engineers with expertise in a variety of domains including mobile networks, high speed networks and distributed systems.
This Master is aimed at those who want to specialize in the design, the development, the evaluation and the expertise of networked computer systems.
COURSE AIMS
The Master of Science in Networked Computer Systems is designed for graduate students seeking employment in the fields of networks and distributed systems with emphasis on crossqualification in these subjects. It provides advanced theoretical and practical experience in these fields, complemented by management courses related to IT. The program is designed for students from all over the world and aims to give them a cross-cultural international dimension and a good understanding of French culture.
The program includes courses over two semesters and a one-semester paid internship with industry or in a research laboratory.
The following courses are taught in English in the fall quarter: Foundations of computer networks: data networks (60 h); Foundations of computer networks: voice networks (30 h); Computer Science introductory course (60 h) and Computer Science introductory projects (30 h). Subsequent courses, taught in French, are organized in two study tracks. The study track “Networks”, includes a choice of courses from the following list: Concurrency and communications (30 h); New IP technologies and future Internet (60 h).
Operated networks: Ethernet metroaccess, optical transport (60 h); Security
bases (30 h); Medium access: scheduling and control (30 h); Queuing theory (30 h); Switched networks and signalling (30 h); Cellular radio-mobile network (60 h);
Project (60 h).

Courses in economics, international management, human sciences and French
language for foreigners are also included in the program.
