The Programme covers the aspects of Structural Engineering and Bridges, Concrete Structures, Steel Structures, Soil- and Rock Mechanics, Building Technology, Building Materials Engineering and Building Services Engineering.
Career prospects
The Civil and Architectural programme meets a well recognized need for qualified professionals with a holistic view of building. There is a strong call for engineers with the knowledge and ability to design and construct infrastructure, residential housing and workplaces with an optimal technology in terms of economy and environmental impact.
The building sector has a long term impact on the built environment as residential housing and construction in Sweden constitute a significant share of the total flow of energy and materials. Skills and knowledge of energy and environmental issues are therefore paramount to the construction of a sustainable society. We are convinced that the Civil and Architectural Engineering Masters programme will provide its graduates with internationally demanded competence with a great future value.
The student will be well prepared for a professional career as a consultant and in the construction industry as well as at public authorities, such as the Road or Rail Administrations. Furthermore the students will also be able to pursue an academic research career.
The programme offers two tracks, Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering and the goal is to provide the industry with competitive professionals with advanced knowledge in those fields. The programme covers 2 years of full-time studies and consists of three terms of coursework and a final term devoted to the writing of a compulsory Degree Project. The programme starts with more fundamental compulsory courses while moving towards elective courses and more advanced knowledge throughout the programme. The Degree Project is supported by a compulsory course in Philosophy of Science and Methodology as well as courses associated to each project theme.
