The International Master Programme in Nursing Science is for registered nurses who wish to deepen their knowledge in the area and obtain the formal competence required for carrying out research studies. The programme stimulates a greater in-depth expertise in an elective area and prepares students for work in quality management and health care development. The programme includes a project thesis in a chosen area.

Today´s fast growing health care sector, both locally and internationally, is comprised of a range of complex care environments. This demands nurses to apply patient-cantered care from a health perspective utilizing effective strategies for communication. Growing demands for patient safety means that nurses must also hold current medical expertise and excellent nursing skills in their specialist area. Nurses working in specialist areas are required to provide high-quality care. This programme can develop nurses´ skills in evidence based practice, patient safety and quality improvement work. The programme also aims to develop students´ ability to communicate and teach quality improvement work and research in clinical practice.

The Educational Programme is a distance-based contract education programme aimed at registered nurses (RN) with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. At the completion of the programme the student is awarded a Degree of Master of Science in Nursing.
