The idea of the Masters programme is to explore sustainable architecture through investigations of building structures focusing on different urban contexts. The programme will explore architectural spaces with regard to density, texture and spatial qualities while minimizing the impact on our environment. The retrofitting of existing environments will also be emphasized in the laboratory for sustainable architectural production. Collaboration with industry on developing new building materials and innovative sustainable strategies will be a central part of the programme which is founded on a theoretical knowledge of sustainable architecture.

The degree project accounts for 30 credits and must include an element of professional specialisation. The degree is carried out individually but may be carried out in pairs provided that individual performance/achievement are evident. This must be applied for and will be decided on a case-by-case basis. An examiner appointed by the university assesses if the project proposal fulfils the requirements of the degree program and appoints a suitable supervisor from the university. The examiner is also responsible for the final assessment. The format, language and the style of the written report shall be compatible with the university template. The title, report and summary are written in English. A separate sheet with the title and summary in Swedish is also required. The grading scale for the degree project is Pass with distinction (VG), Pass (G) or Fail (U).
