The Master’s program in Environmental Science deals with human influences on the environment and develops the students’ skills in natural sciences to identify, study, and assess environmental problems. The students choose a specialisation in Biology, Environmental Chemistry, Earth Science or Atmospheric Science. The program starts with a field course (15 ECTS) offering training in sampling and analysis of chemical and physical quantities, data analysis, data synthesis, and presentation techniques. A second 15 ECTS course in environmental science deals then with the analysis of topical environmental issues with a systems and multi-disciplinary approach, scientific research and basic statistics applied to relevant environmental problems. Above that the students take at least 30 ECTS within one of the four applied specialisations and further 30 ECTS in courses of their own choice to broaden their overall understanding of environmental science. Traineeship (15 ECTS, elective) as well as the mandatory thesis offer opportunities to make contact with and gain experience of environmental work at environmental authorities and industry. The programs courses might be given in Swedish if only Swedish speaking students are admitted.
