The Renewable Energy Science & Technology Master’s is a graduate degree program, taught in English, designed to help meet one of the major challenges facing the world — increasing the percentage of renewable energies in the global energy mix.

To address this planet-wide challenge, there is a need in training a new generation of researchers, scientists and engineers to manage the energy systems of tomorrow, with a particular focus on photovoltaics, energy vectors and storage, energy distribution networks, and wind and hydropower.

The Renewable Energy Master’s program brings together prestigious French schools in the ParisTech network and internationally respected businesses (Total, EDF, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Saint-Gobain, Schneider Electric) in contributing their technical and scientific expertise to the program and ensuring a career-focused approach.

Employment Opportunities

The program aims to provide students with state-of-the-art knowledge and expertise in some of the most important renewable energy disciplines.
Graduates will enter the job market with the necessary skills to help leading manufacturers, innovative start-ups and public organizations define and implement their energy strategies and policies, worldwide. The program also prepares students for jobs in research or teaching.

At the end of the program, graduates will be able to choose from a number of career options, including:

Contents

Focusing on science, the program aims to give students real-world technical expertise in strategic renewable energy disciplines, as well as an in-depth understanding of the issues associated with renewable energies and their development, including the short and medium-term technical, technological, geopolitical and environmental challenges.

The program’s main objectives are to:

  • Prepare students for careers in renewable energy advanced research and management.
  • Train the researchers and engineers who will help to prepare and implement energy strategies and policies for leading manufacturers, innovative start-ups and public organizations.

Content

Classes are taught by university lecturers and experts from the businesses partnering the program. The program is divided into two semesters:

Academic Semester: Students choose two of the four subjects as their areas of specialization:

  • Photovoltaics: Thin-Film Photovoltaics; Photovoltaic Technologies in Industry; Polymers for Photovoltaics.
  • Energy Vectors and Storage: Renewable Generation of Electricity using the Thermal Cycle; Hydrogen and Energy (Production, Storage, Fuel Cells and Economic Issues); Batteries and Energy Storage.
  • Energy Distribution Networks: Grid Optimization; Integrating Off-Grid Energy into Smart Grids; Electrical Systems.
  • Wind and Hydropower: Wind Power; Fluvial and Maritime Resources for Renewable Energy.

Research Internship: Second semester is dedicated to a research internship in a public or private laboratory in France or abroad.

Accreditation

ParisTech courses are recognized by the state. They are regularly evaluated by French and international organizations (e.g. AERES, AQUIS, AACSB, AMBA, etc.).
